As Seen On TV

As seen on TV, the whole world must be white
Except for terrorists, gangs, and urban blight
And though Latinos are the growing populace
As seen on TV, they all must’ve left Metropolis

As seen on TV, powerful women are bitches
And queers are neutered neighbors there to keep you in stiches
“TV sports” never means women’s sports
And why do so-called experts all look the same on evening news reports?

Chorus:
As seen on TV
As seen on TV
As seen on TV
As seen on TV

The revenue from car ads on TV
Is more than public transit gets in the whole country
Still we wonder why we can’t get from here to there
Without the luxury of choking on our air

As seen on TV, everything’s up for sale
And no one asks why corporations can’t go to jail
Perhaps political contributions that they gave
Keep them from joining their new and literal wage slaves

chorus

As seen on TV, things divide in two
So neatly, cleanly displayed for your view
And in some twisted notion of balance
Hate-mongering gets the same air time as righteousness

As seen on TV, everything’s just fine
Or resolves in half an hour most of the time
But if you watch with critical eyes
What’s seen on TV is the least depth money can buy

chorus (2x)
