Life/Art

Two ponytailed young men in hightops
Hit a little ball onto a green
Suddenly one stops and smiles
At what he’s seen
What does it mean?

A willow buffeted by wind
Its tears dried in the breeze
The branches dance like a flapper’s dress
Full of sequin leaves
What does it mean?

If life imitates art
Where’s the little card
That tells me all about
The work I see
Before me?

A train leaves a busy station
On New Year’s Eve
Racing 300 miles an hour
Through land serene
What does it mean?

What does it mean?
